Before I tell you about our experiences at the Asia Gardens Hotel, I would like to take my hat off to the person who had the bright idea to install a children’s play area in front of the place where we had to wait for our suitcases, at Alicante Airport. Really, it’s such a cool idea!
Accompanied by my husband and my son Achille, we spent a week of pure pleasure at Asia Gardens.
We stayed there at the end of October. This part of Spain, located in the region of Alicante, is known to enjoy a particularly favourable microclimate, guaranteeing pleasant temperatures and sunshine all year round. Nevertheless, we had some doubts about what the weather would do at this time of the year but, apart from a half-day of rain, the weather was beautiful throughout the week! Temperatures ranged between 22 and 25 degrees and the outdoor pool was heated perfectly.
Before our arrival, we were very intrigued as to the decoration and concept of the hotel, which puts Asia in the spotlight. As soon as we crossed the entrance, we were amazed! The staff are dressed in elegant tunics inspired by the traditional kimono, majestic bamboo fans are suspended on the high wooden frame that overlooks the reception, accents of Bali with the elephant stone sculptures. Soothing music pervades the hotel – everything is sober, elegant and refined. We had the feeling of arriving in a Thai palace!
Iced tea was offered to us during check-in. Thirsty from the trip, my son really enjoyed his drink.
We opted for a Superior Deluxe Room with a king-size bed and a comfortable sofa bed for our child. The room is very spacious, and the dressing room and bathroom are huge. There are an Italian shower and a large separate bath. I discovered that the housekeeper had placed a bath toy for Achille near the sink and a washing gel for sensitive children’s skin. Excellent! Our large terrace offered an unobstructed view of the natural flora and the sea. I am still a little « anxious » as a mother, so I checked that the balcony of the terrace was safe for my child. There was no problem, I could let him play with complete peace of mind.
During the 7 days of our stay, we enjoyed a lot of activities. My husband was able to satisfy his passion for golf on one of the two courses located next to the hotel. As for me, I was able to enjoy the spa and daily yoga and Thai-chi classes, all offered free of charge in the hotel’s garden. As my son is not yet 4 years old, I accompanied him to the kids’ club. We played football, did some crafts with the assistants and the other children and we had fun with the many games available, such as Fantastic Four!
Every day, an entertainment programme is devised to entertain children. From morning till night, the little ones are offered sporting and creative activities: postcard workshops, disco parties, sports tournaments, feeding the Japanese fishes in the ponds of the garden, pirates workshop (with boats created in origami), treasure hunts, and many more.
Parents, too, can enjoy free activities such as demonstrations of Asian cuisine, afternoon tea, live music concerts.
Bikes are available for rent and tennis courts are located near the hotel (the hotel offers rackets and balls).
We particularly enjoyed the pool reserved for families. Why? Because it is heated to 30 degrees and is under constant guard to watch over the children. Bracers and games are even available on loan. It is a very friendly place where parents chat with each other while children paddle in the pool or in the jacuzzi corner (particularly suitable for the little ones thanks to its low depth). The restaurant next to the pool is perfect for sharing a pizza or club sandwich at noon, with simple and tasty dishes that appeal to everyone.
Speaking of catering, the exceptional quality and variety of food served as an all-you-can-eat buffet in the evening at Udaipur Restaurant is first class. The buffet theme changes daily: Spanish, Italian, Asian cuisine. There is something for everyone! Meats and fish are grilled in front of you by the chef, and all drinks are included, including very good wines.
The price of €55 per person is perfectly justified, given the quality of the food. Meals are offered to all children under 3 years old and from 3 to 11 years old, children pay less than 50% of the stated price. If you want to vary the pleasures, other restaurants offer a la carte service.
To conclude, I would say that Asia Gardens is the ideal place for families looking for a Zen place to disconnect from everyday life. Everything is done to relax your body and your mind, to be discovered throughout the year and highly recommended!
