During our last Autumn break, we stayed at the Oasis Lodge. Here are our impressions.
Marrakech is a city we know well because we had already been there a dozen times in the past.
Today, our son has grown up and is 6 years old (« and a half », it is always important for him not to forget the « half » hihi) he asks us to live great experiences on holidays. Well, he doesn’t say it exactly in those words, but one thing is sure: he wants to have fun, make friends and have crazy moments. This is why we were seduced by the Oasis Lodge. This unique resort is made up of three parts: hotel, water park and restaurant.
I must admit that the « water park » part delighted our son as much as it left his parents sceptical. We were expecting a gigantic concrete amusement park with lots of people. In reality, it was the opposite! The water park, like the hotel and the restaurant, was designed in perfect harmony with nature. The vegetation is lush and the attractions blend in with the natural surroundings. It’s great to relax on a sun lounger while the kids play in the giant wave pool or on the slides. The park is separated from the hotel by a gate and entry is free for hotel guests. Lifeguards and kid supervisors keep an eye on the children at all times, which creates a very safe atmosphere.
The Oasis Lodge is designed as a small traditional Moroccan village with landscaped paths lined with olive trees, flowers and palm trees. Each family who stays here has their own lodge dressed in a beautiful terracotta colour. We opted for a lodge with a bedroom and a living room with our son’s bed by the fireplace. Our lodge also had a kitchenette, a bathroom and a private terrace opening onto a garden where our son loved to pick lemons. In the same garden, I loved to rest in the hammock under the shade of the trees. Our room was very clean and comfortable.
Breakfast and other meals are taken at Jardin des Oliviers, a cosy restaurant set up under a large and majestic Berber tent. The decor is magical. The breakfast is not very extensive, but the products are ultra-fresh. Special mention for the Moroccan crepes made at the minute and the scrambled eggs.
We had a fabulous time at La Paillote restaurant, which is also part of the estate. This French restaurant looks like a gigantic African lodge and offers a breathtaking décor that plunges you into the heart of the savannah: precious wood, burning torches to guide you through the night, tropical plants and flowers, etc. The food is very good and a magician even comes to entertain the tables where children dine.
All meals can also be served in your lodge which is very pleasant and convenient, especially with small children.
The hotel’s kids’ club is located in the large park that houses the water attractions. The Club des Mousaillons is like a den for pirates in short pants. The infrastructures and activities offered are of a high quality: mini-climbing, archery, treasure hunt, pirate pool, trampoline, and even introductory boxing sessions (€5/hour boxing lesson)! Our son had the time of his life on Halloween day, which included a huge candy hunt!
The adult activities are also very varied. Every day my wife enjoyed a private yoga class (€30/1h). We also enjoyed the spa which, like the hotel and restaurant, has a very affordable price (€40/1h massage). To get to the spa, you take a free private shuttle that takes you to a real Moroccan spa located 250 meters from the hotel. This is also where you can play golf on a splendid course, the Atlas Golf Marrakech.
In conclusion, I really recommend the Oasis Lodge, a little nugget where you will be invaded by an immediate feeling of well-being and where your children will play in complete safety. The concept is really very well done and singular, far from the traditional luxury hotels. The price/quality ratio is excellent and the staff are adorable. We met many Belgian, Swiss and French families. Your children will have no problem making new friends… and neither will you!
Don’t wait any longer to go and discover the ochre city!
Jérôme
