My discovery of the Wellness Cascade

Here are my impressions from my stay at the Cascade Wellness, a family-run hotel on a human scale that I really enjoyed.

Our stay at the Cascade Wellness exceeded our expectations in many ways.

First of all, in terms of decoration. The hotel recently underwent a 7 million euro renovation and it was quite successful! The rooms are large and very comfortable. They plunge their hosts in different atmospheres: Africa, Asia, Europe etc. Our suite had a sea view and a large sofa bed where our 5 year old son slept.

The interior of the hotel is cosy and upscale. The thick carpeting in the corridors is lit by subdued light.

The resort also offers villas and flats, which we did not visit.

Secondly, we really appreciated the size of the resort. It is neither too big nor too small. There are several spots and several swimming pools, which allows you to vary the pleasures, but the different places are located close to each other, which is practical when you are travelling with a child.

The location is ideal too. The hotel offers a breathtaking view on the sea. From the hotel’s garden you have access to a beautiful and safe path that runs along the cliffs. Here you can enjoy beautiful sunset walks and bike rides.

The beach is accessible by shuttle bus for free. The journey is 800 metres long and takes 3 minutes. This shuttle is quite convenient, as in the Algarve you usually have to go down the rocky cliffs to swim in the sea and access is sometimes complicated. This free shuttle also takes you to the centre of Lagos.

This hotel is truly family friendly. In fact, we have met many children with whom our son, Achille, had a great time.

The staff of the kids-club is very friendly and the activities are varied. The only small criticism: the kids-club is off-centre and it would have been more practical to install it in the heart of the resort.

The restaurants offer children’s menus and it is possible to borrow children’s bikes (and also adult mountain bikes) free of charge. It is also possible to borrow bikes with a baby seat in the back.

A golf instructor offers introductory sessions on the driving range for families.

The swimming pool with its sandy bottom is a place we particularly liked. It is really very practical for children. It’s also very impressive: you really feel like you’re on a real beach! This feeling is reinforced by the palm trees surrounding the pool.

Next to the main swimming pool there is also a paddling pool for babies.

In the hotel’s 3 restaurants, children’s dishes and high chairs are available. I would say that each of the restaurants can welcome around 30 guests, which makes them very cosy. The cuisine in the buffet restaurant is very good.

If you like sport and wellness, Cascade is made for you. The hotel has a large fitness room and an outdoor cross-fitness course.

The Occitane spa is beautiful and features its own outdoor swimming pool where we enjoyed relaxing as a couple while our son had fun with his friends from the mini-club.

Fun fact: during our stay we ran into the Bayern Munich football team. This is because the hotel has several football pitches! Many big teams like to come and play on them.

If you are looking for a small place to relax during your holidays, Cascade is the place for you!
