At the beginning of May, we were lucky enough to stay at the sublime Elounda Peninsula All Suite Hotel in Crete. After a 1-hour drive from Heraklion airport, we arrived at our destination.
On arrival at the entrance to this hotel in Crete, two smiling baggage handlers collected our luggage and offered to park our car. One of the receptionists also came out to welcome us. Once inside, we were offered a welcome drink while we checked in. She then invited us to follow her into the lobby to give us a few explanations about the resort, visible through a large bay window.
At the Elounda Peninsula, wide open spaces and unobstructed views of the Aegean Sea are among the main features of a place that is both kid-friendly and uncommonly elegant. After a quick check-in and a briefing on our stay, we were whisked away in a horse-drawn carriage to our incredible three-bedroom villa, garden and private pool. Spacious and elegant, this villa, like the hotel’s other suites and villas, has one bathroom per room for maximum comfort. Suites and villas at the Elounda Peninsula are ideal for families looking for privacy, while still having access to the services of an exclusive 5-star hotel.
The next day, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the Calypso Restaurant. The restaurant is set high above the hotel, offering exceptional sea views. The friendly staff are on hand to help you make the most of the moment. Fresh produce, mainly from the Cretan terroir.
Breakfast is buffet style, with the option of hot or cold à la carte dishes at no extra cost. As far as dining in general is concerned, the hotel has 8 Restaurants (including those of neighboring Porto Elounda and Elounda Mare), where you can also reserve a table for lunch or dinner à la carte. The Italian restaurant « Il Borgo » is located right by the sea, next to the shared swimming pool. It’s elegant and refined, with top-quality ingredients.
We also loved the baby and kids clubs, where our daughters had a great time with the babysitters on hand. They were smiling and professional, so we were reassured and left with peace of mind to enjoy the experience at the hotel’s Six Senses Spa.
The thalassotherapy circuit gave us a moment of pure relaxation with breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea. And there’s never a dull moment at the Elounda Peninsula: you can play golf (9-hole course) and even take lessons, including for children. There’s also a fitness program with a class every morning in yoga, pilates, stretching and other disciplines, at no extra cost. The hotel also has a tennis court, a water sports center and a soccer academy for children.
If you’re looking for a vacation in an exclusive location, where space and privacy are king, all in an idyllic setting, the Elounda Peninsula is the place for you! Go there with your eyes closed 🙂
