Games, bubbly baths, and sightseeing IN SO/ Sotogrande!

An Daems, married, mother of 4 children, from Belgium

29/09/2022

Already 2 years of Corona times with no or limited traveling, but we finally have new options to go for! So we decided to look for a trip to a sunny place during the Christmas holidays but not too far, just somewhere around the South of Europe. And who else than the best agency Little Guest Collection to help us find the best location and hotel for our family!

So it finally happened, some days just before New Year’s eve! We took off to Malaga, with great expectations for the hotel Little Guest had choosen for us. We took the plane in Brussels in the early morning. The children were so happy to see the “De Smurfen” airplane! 2,5 hours later, we could see the sun rising above Malaga when landing, an amazing thing to see after all those rainy days in Belgium.

Everything went smoothly at the airport, grabbing the luggage, picking up the car we rented, and we made our first stop on the way to the hotel after 1 hour. We had a small walk and had breakfast at the beautiful Marbella. Kids enjoyed looking at all the luxury cars and boats there! One more hour driving, and we arrived in the amazing Sotogrande Resort. They guided us around the resort, and one thing was for sure: we would like and enjoy this beautiful place: many different and stylish white buildings, with a large choice of restaurants (although they were not all open in this winter period), bars and terraces.

« The first impressions were so good, sun shining on our face, with very friendly hotel employees at the entrance, we were so happy to be there! »

A funny hotel employee with a nice hotel uniform took us to our room in one of those golf carts. Although the room was near to the reception, this was a joyful ride for the children! Our room was a suite, with a living room with a big television screen, a large couch and with a view over the hotel gardens. A table that we didn’t plan to make a use of was turned into a table tennis table thanks to the nets Matteo had brought with us. Lots of fun!

On the left side of the suite, there was a double sliding door to enter the master bedroom, passing through a very practical dressing room, and a spacious bathroom with a separate toilet room. I love the light in the master bedroom! On the right side of the living room, there was another door that led to the bedroom of our 2 children. They immediately jumped on the big beds and saw another big television screen. 5 minutes later, they had already found out how to put Youtube there! The breakfast in the hotel was the perfect start for the day. The hotel employees were so friendly, bringing us coffee, tea, orange juice and all the eggs we wanted, and last but not least, pancakes for the kids! We could also help ourselves at the royal buffet full of fruits, meat, bread and sweet food. They didn’t forget anything to spoil all the guests!

Well, unfortunately, we are no golfers, but I can only imagine the paradise this resort is for the people who are, amazing golf courses all over the Sotogrande site! We discovered the luxury wellness with warm, cold and ice cold swimming pools. We all enjoyed it together. The jaccuzzi and sauna are allowed for the kids up to 1pm so it was the perfect morning activity. They loved the bubble baths and the corner with the 5 pressure jet showers. Unfortunately, the Turkish bath was out of order. The fitness room… I had never seen such a big one in a hotel before! All brand new machines. The boxing one was the favourite of our son, although he couldn’t use it for too long as the gloves were not available. We then took a break from this sports session, we took a drink and some fruits there.

« The children had a lot of fun in the bubble baths »

During these beautfiul days, we went for a trip on the coast 10 minutes away driving and we arrived in the small, colourful and nice port of San Roque. We quickly found out about some good restaurants and we had a walk along the market stalls. We also had a walk on the beach and threw rocks in the sea. One day, we had a trip to Ronda, 1-hour drive away. The way there was through an amazing nature with amazing views. We stopped many times to watch and photograph the hills in the mist and the sun, just wow!

We were first close to the seaside, and we were then in the mountains of Spain! Ronda is absolutely worth going to. It’s a bit touristic, but it has a famous high bridge that connects one part of the old city part to the modern one. It felt just like entering a movie. The kids slept on the way back to the hotel.

So, Sotogrande, yes! An absolutely great resort to go and enjoy quiet family times with all the luxury you can dream of during a holiday time!

Oh, and one last note! The golf cart… The children asked some times to their hotel employee friend during his spare time to have a ride to our room. They loved it, best time for them! (and their hotel friend liked it too!)

Thank you SO/Sotogrande, and thank you Little Guest, we had a wonderful time in Spain!
