Our dream holidays at Domes Zeen Chania, in Creta

For our 9-day stay in Crete, we chose the Domes Zeen Chania, a hotel we had fallen in love with before we even left. This hotel, nestled in the hills of this beautiful island, is perfect for families who are looking for a change of scenery and calm for a relaxing vacation.

We wanted to go to Crete to explore the Greek nature and culture and we wanted to spend our holidays in a hotel that really reflected that, so when we discovered Domes Zeen Chania, it seemed ideal for a quiet family stay.

It is a very soothing establishment within a very well maintained estate. The hotel itself is located in the heart of the hills and is surrounded by beautiful gardens that infuse the entire estate with the smell of nature and citrus. The main pool has a view of the sea, and a fine sandy beach is only 20 minutes from the hotel.

This is a very nice hotel for couples and families. We came there for our wedding anniversary and were pleasantly surprised by this address that our children loved!

During our stay, the availability and the warmth of the reception and the staff in general, was one of the great points for us. As soon as we arrived, we could see how much everyone enjoyed taking care of the families and making the comfort of the guests a priority by helping them with any request they could have, no matter what it is.

At first, we were supposed to stay in two different hotels, but a last minute change of plans disturbed our organization and that of the hotel, and so when we arrived, we had a problem with our room. Indeed, it was not what we wanted. But thanks to the help of the staff who immediately corrected this error, we were able to upgrade to a connecting room – a must for families with kiddos- which was beautiful and very comfortable with a private pool and a splendid view of the Cretan landscape.

The hotel staff is there to meet your every need and help you every step of the way. I really experienced this through the wedding anniversary surprise that my husband had organized with the hotel. He brought in Greek violinists for a magical private moment that would not have been possible without the help of the staff.

Since we were traveling with children, we wanted to find a hotel with a great kids-club so that the little ones could also enjoy the vacation and have fun while we discovered the Greek corners where we could not take them. The kids-club is opened from 10 am to 1 pm and from 3 pm to 6 pm which can seem rather limited because we can’t go too far away but it also allows the kiddos to not get too tired during the day.

The child is king at the kids-club of Zeen Chania. This one was designed to please the little ones and it shows! It is really the perfect place for children who want to have fun with friends. The best thing about it is that it is completely free! The ages of the kids range from 4 to 12 years old and the atmosphere is really fun, everyone plays together. We feel safe to leave them there, the animators who take care of the kids-club are really great.

Our favorite part: the kids-only pool with wading pool that is perfect for hours of family fun. Not as warm as we would have hoped it to be during our stay but during the hotter summer months, it’s a must!

The hotel’s restaurant also thinks of the younger guests and offers a menu especially designed for them but also knows how to adapt the adult menu on demand so that the whole family can try the best of Greek gastronomy. As it is located right next to the pool, while waiting to be served, the children can play and swim outside together before the meal.

One of the services we appreciated the most, that we were able to take advantage of for one night, was the babysitting service. To celebrate our wedding anniversary together, we had a babysitter come directly to our room for a few hours to take care of the two little ones. The babysitters are really punctual and attentive, which allowed us to enjoy our evening without any worries.

I really enjoyed my stay in Crete at Domes Zeen Chania. What I liked best: our super comfortable and beautifully decorated connecting rooms with garden and private pool that allowed us to really enjoy our vacation and absorb the benefits of the Mediterranean sun.

In my opinion, this address is made for families looking for calm and a slow-life atmosphere. The kids have fun during the day in the kids-club, which is exceptional while Mom and Dad can enjoy the pleasures of Greek culture together.
