At Easter, we spent about ten days in Sicily. We stayed in several hotels located in different parts of the island and ended beautifully by choosing the Verdura. It was a real favorite!
Located 1 hour and 30 minutes from Palermo airport, the resort lives up to its name, as it is set in a gigantic greenery nestled between the sea and the hills. The resort is known for housing Italy’s most beautiful golf course, and the views of the greens are stunning.
The rooms are spread out in several single-story units that literally blend into the landscape. Here, everything is elegance… A feeling of serenity envelops you from check-in and never leaves you. The service is impeccable, and the staff anticipate your every need.
Bicycles are provided free of charge to adults and children to ride on the numerous paths of the estate. For small children, there are bicycles with child seats and even bicycles with small stabilizing wheels.
The beach is located just at the end of the immense garden surrounding the rooms, and access is very easy, even for small children. In the distance, you can see typical Sicilian villages built on the hillside. Lifeguards ensure everyone’s safety at the outdoor pool and beach.
Children under 16 are allowed in the indoor spa pool every day between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. This was very useful for us because during our short stay, there were some showers that contrasted with the usually very good weather at this time of year.
We stayed in a beautiful and large suite with a master bedroom and a large living room where our son’s bed was placed. We felt like we were in a villa because the dimensions and rooms were numerous: kitchen, large bathroom, patio, terrace with sun loungers and hammock, etc. We used room service to eat in the living room of our suite because we felt so comfortable there.
The cuisine is exceptional! Special mentions for the quality of the breakfast buffet (Achille was speechless in front of the artisanal granita stand) and for the seafood restaurant located on the beach. Expect around €100 per adult for dinner (starter, main course, dessert), including wine.
The kids’ club is very large and welcomes children aged 4 to 12, while 0-4-year-olds are taken care of by nursery nurses in the nursery. Foosball, video game rooms, climbing wall, ping-pong table, pool, wading pool, nap room for the little ones, wooden cabin, laboratory for experiments, kitchen to learn to cook good dishes… nothing is missing. The entertainers speak Italian, French, and English. We met several French-speaking families, and Achille was able to easily make vacation friends.
The gym is large and well-equipped. Yoga and sports classes are also available for an additional €25. With Achille, we trained on the large grass football field that hosts the Juventus academy in the summer. We also played paddle tennis.
The Verdura exceeded our expectations. I can even say that it is one of our favorite hotels in the world, which fully deserves its reputation and five stars. The nightly rate is not cheap, but it is justified as the place is beautiful and the service impeccable. Believe me, you won’t be disappointed, and you will have an unforgettable experience. Our only regret: not staying longer! But that will give us a reason to come back.
An hour’s drive from the Verdura, I recommend visiting the famous Valley of the Temples in Agrigento. You will discover the remains of sumptuous ancient temples dating back 500 years before Jesus Christ, at a time when the Greeks occupied the region. This cultural activity is ideal for families.
See you soon!
