15th August being both a Monday and a holiday this year, we decided to go on a lovers’ extended weekend in London to catch up with some friends established across the Channel. We seized this opportunity to stay for a night at the fancy St James’s Hotel.
We are used to come to London but, for the first time, we’ve been blessed by a beautiful sun and managed to discover the city from a different angle. After a whole day of visiting under a heated sky, we were delighted to arrive at the hotel to unpack our bags, take a refreshing shower and enjoy the air conditioning. The staff was very welcoming and we checked in pretty quickly.
After a restoring break, we took advantage of the central location of the hotel to look for food in the neighbourhood. So here we are, on our way to Piccadilly Circus, then Soho the intense nightlife corner. We decided to spend the evening at Kingly Court, a 3-floor food hall at the end of a little alley. It is the perfect place if you are having trouble deciding what you want to eat, you can find 21 restaurants and bars boasting worldwide food!
At the end of the evening, we decided it was time to go back to our place. Despite its city-centre location, it is a pleasure to come back to this hotel that is hidden in a peaceful and silent alley. We spent a restful night and were fully revigorated to resume the visits the next day!
Going to London means city trip and visits. After a 5-star breakfast and a lovely tea, we head to Buckingham Palace which is on the other side of Green Park. Buckingham can only be visited a few weeks per year, between August and September. It is a must-do for those who travel to London at that time of the year.
We continued the day with a stroll in St James’s Park before going to admire the fully-renovated and famous Big Ben. We took the time to walk around this part of the city and enjoy a drink under this surprisingly good weather.
The hotel’s staff was very kind and allowed us to leave our luggage even though we had already checked out. A handful and appreciated service, especially on a city trip, and we strongly recommend staying at St James’s Hotel for a tailor-made visit to London.
We wish we could have stayed more at this amazing hotel but our journey wasn’t over and here we are on a train, hopping to Brighton to enjoy the seaside.
Thank you Little Guest & see you soon!
Marie
